World Penguin Day
We were going to go out to the woods today, but then we saw cute pictures of penguins and found out it was World Penguin Day. So we decided to watch some short videos of penguins and then make a penguin.
We caught a glimpse of penguin cakes and cookies. They were very elaborate, especially for me as I’m pretty rubbish at decorating. The boys seemed keen to make something penguin and cookie like, so I decided make cookies using a basic biscuit dough, half vanilla and half cocoa, roll them up, slice and bake. We decorated them with a little icing and mixed peel for a beak and feet. OK, so they look a bit funny but they’re not bad for a limited ingredients we had and they taste delicious! We have been talking about how we can help protect penguins and decided that by not throwing rubbish into the rivers, which could end up in the sea, not that we throw rubbish in rivers, but you know, it’s a good start. This reminded me that we have Happy Feet DVD so we’re now snuggled on the sofa watching the film. Happy World Penguin Day :-)
