Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Elvaston Castle
We headed for the Teddy Bear’s Picnic at Elvaston Castle last week. Choosing teddies to take was difficult, in the end they decided on two each. We arrived at the lawn terraces to find loads of activities to take part in and almost all were free. It was a lovely event organised by Derbyshire County Council Countryside Service. Elvaston is such a great location for events, we’re lucky to have a place like this so close.
We had a go at making a windmill, creating a clay teddy/creature and watched wooden whistles being made, of course we had to buy one too. The sound of wooden whistles being blown filled the air! We enjoyed our picnic, the boys also enjoyed making new friends whilst playing in the hedges.
We went for an explore after lunch and as usual found loads of trees to climb. This time the tree was a helicopter, we were flying to Norfolk, that’s the sort of luxury we have in our crazy imaginary worlds. We also found a teeny tiny frog which we let jump over our hands, the boys thought it was brilliant. Another lovely day out and two tired boys to show for it.
