Hardwick Hall – National Trust
A trip to Hardwick Hall last weekend. The first time we’ve been into the gardens and hall. We visited the grounds last year when The Fireman and The Cyclist did their cyclo-cross races.
There are some lovely walks all around, with so many woodland flowers.
The gardens and Hall are spectacular. The tapestries, the size of the rooms, it is all so grand, I could live in the hallway alone it is so huge. The walk around the house was made at quite a fast pace though, the boys want to touch EVERYTHING and I get a little bit concious of them possibly damaging something. The National Trust do however make an effort to entertain children through many of the rooms. The Farmer and I made lunch from a big basket of play food and in another room made jigsaws, I also noticed drawing equipment and dressing up clothes.
The gardens were lovely, lots of hedges you can dodge in and out of. We were lucky with the weather, it was definitely a fresh spring day, but not too bad when we stopped to picnic. The boys loved adding to the dens in the courtyard whilst we had a coffee, which The Farmer decided to dip his banana into…
I didn’t realise how much they’d been running about as they both had little snoozes on the way home, peace and quiet in the car at last!
