The wonders of the cardboard box and an egg-citing Easter trail
We can’t recycle our cardboard until it’s been thoroughly pummelled, or hopefully creatively and thoughtfully made into something interesting, usually just pummelled though. Today we started with a sheet of cardboard and a long narrow cardboard box. ‘Ooo what’s its going to be?!!’ I hear you all cry. Well we started with a bit of paint ( not enough paint as it turned out, hence multicolour).
Then a bit of using rulers, bit pointless really as The Farmer actually just wanted to doodle all over it.
Then some cutting and glueing and wait for it…wait for it….
It’s a……rabbit house!! Exciting eh??
Now it’s a letterbox….
Now it’s fortress with cannons and trebuchets, that’s boys for you.
I tried making the boys lunch look fun, I’m not very good or enthusiastic about making smiley faces out of their food. The Farmer obviously not used to this enthusiasm and said whilst staring at it ‘Can I eat it???’
Anyway after lunch we headed out for some fresh air. We had a disastrous trip out to a farm yesterday, cold and muddy, frozen kind of muddy and set me back £7 for the privilege. So today’s trip was a refreshing journey To Broomfield Hall where we visited the Food Hub.
They are running various events over the Easter holidays. We just opted for the Easter trail. We’ve visited and done a trail before and thought how lovely the grounds were.
Today’s trail was a set of riddles to find the Easter eggs and collect the letters. The boys loved it, more than I thought they would actually. The weather certainly helped, I even managed to sit in the sunshine for at least 20mins without getting cold whilst the boys ran around. Sunshine at last it makes me feel so much happier!
Back at the Food Hub the boys received their reward, mini eggs all round. It was so much better than yesterday and only cost us £1 for the trail, such a bargain!
Back home the boys chilled out with some CBeebies time whilst requesting pasta for dinner. So I got my own back and eventually turned the TV off handed them some pasta dough and set them to it 🙂
I have to admit they did a good job of it too!
