Bank Holiday Camping – Back to Basics

UntitledLast weekend we enjoyed the bank holiday by taking a camping trip to Kniveton and stayed at New House Organic Farm.  It was a last minute recommendation as I didn’t seem to be able to find anywhere else that was suitable.  The site is really basic, we’ve not camped that basic before but thought it’d be worth a try and it was only for the weekend.  It was perfect, a bit of a tricky drive up through one of the farm fields, but once set up we had a great view and could just camp wherever we liked.  There was a interesting long-drop loo which was more than adequate, fresh drinking water and fire bowls.  The boys enjoyed exploring the field messing and around on their bikes.  We tried out The Farmer on a new Follow-Me Tandem, he thought it was great.  It was good preparation for the next day’s trip to Carsington Water, The Fireman managed to ride all the way round unaided and suggested he would go further if he had the option.  Anyway or first night we popped to Ashbourne and got some fish and chips and enjoyed them in the early evening sun next to a ford, watching the cars splash through.  It was a lovely weekend, before the rain started anyway, but even that adds to the adventure :-)
