We met with some friends a few weeks back, they suggested the BMX track at Alvaston in Derby. We’ve cycled past it many times and watched events there, but never really considered taking the boys around it. Our friends daughter is also very keen on cycling and is a very good cyclists for a 3 year old, so the BMX track seem like a good plan. They all loved it, The Fireman seemed a little more nervous, possibly because he’s on a bigger bike. The Farmer was a fearless.
The Farmer enjoyed it so much he asked to go back there again. I took him one Monday, which is a ‘mummy day’ as The Fireman is at school, it was very quiet. He had a such fun. I would definitely recommend taking your children there if they’re fairly confident on their bike. It’s free to park and free to use, just be aware it could be busy at weekends and also there may be some events running.
After riding around the track for quite some time, we rode over to the playground which is about a 5min walk away. We really like this playground, the sand play area is great.
We also had our picnic here, but treated ourselves to ice cream and a cuppa at The Mad Hatters cafe next to the playground.
We explored a little around the lake and headed back to the BMX track again for a last scoot round. This used up most of the day, so an ideal way to entertain little ones for free!
